Happy Year of the Monkey!
Happy New Year! It's Year of the Monkey time! Lunamania in '04 is off to a slightly inauspicious start—mostly because my hard drive imploded. After 6 hours of precious time with Dell Tech Support (3 of those hours on hold), I know nothing more about why my computer hates me, nor am I any closer to retrieving data or getting a working computer.
Whine, whine, whine…I spent part of yesterday schlepping to various data recovery technicians. One techie—if you can call him that—suggested putting my hard drive in the freezer. Perhaps my frozen dumplings and shrimp will whip it into shape? Needless to say, I proceeded to the next spot. Enough whining about my computer. There really are bigger and better things to whine about—bar review. Like, 6 days a week of it. As Alba said so aptly, “There is evil in the world.” I’ve been sorely missing my law school peoples. Where are Omar, Jessica, Anjana and Alba to swap NY Times headlines and hints to the crossword? Where is that singing property professor? On a cheerier note, part of my New Year’s celebrations involved scooting around Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe on my snowboard. Joannie and I thought we were being very wily and time efficient by spending the preceding night w/her friends Jon and Elia in Sacramento in order to get an early start. We were so pleased with our on-the-road-by 7:30AM-selves…that is until we realized 20 miles out that-we forgot our snowboards. Doh. The snow conditions were perfect. And the views of the mountains and Lake Tahoe from the lift and at 8000ft were just phenomenal.
When I win CA lotto, Lunamania will have an outpost in Tahoe. You all are
welcome to visit and sit in my hot tub, drink hot chocolate in front of the fire and play scrabble and poker. I have some fun pictures, but since I’m not blogging from home, I can’t put them up. Blog on in ’04!
