Brought to you by the letter K
Big ups to the letter K for providing high entertainment value. First, Kreatibo -- a queer pinay art collective -- provided much needed end of the week funnies and the chance to see Jinky in her drag persona as Fil-Am mom with big hair. I also appreciated Patty's self-deprecating skit about co-dependent dykes in couples counseling. I'm all about the funnies.
Second K sponsored event brought to me...Kung-Fu Hustle! This is Stephen Chow's follow-up to Shaolin Soccer. Kung-Fu Hustle had some prize moments, but lacked the full blown over-the-top crazy factor that made Shaolin Soccer so fun. Hey, I thoroughly enjoyed my tub of popcorn and coke.
Third K event was the Kick My Ass bike ride called the Three Bears. The 2 devoted Lunamania readers will recall my first experience with the Three Bears bike trail. This is the no-fun trail with the Momma, Poppa and Baby Bear hills through the Briones trail. Well, blue skies, a short term memory worthy of a goldfish, and fond memories of a cheeseburger at the end of the trail can result in Very Poor Choices. I spent a chunk of my Sunday pedaling my way up hills. Unlike the last ride, I spared myself bodily harm and was actually able to enjoy stretches of the ride--especially the wildlife sightings. I saw a Red Winged Blackbird, a gecko, some species of wild fowl, a Turkey Vulture, a sad deer (R.I.P.), cows (moooooo) and cute lamb (baaaahhh). There was also a random woman offering cyclists a single gummy bear to "sweeten the climb over the 3 bears." Punny, but ONE gummy bear?!
Anyway, props to the letter K!
