I'm totally straight for...
Last week, Kahn and I paid a visit to Annie, owner of EZ5 our favorite post-work haunt. Annie rocks for many reasons including but not limited to:
-- her new EZ5 sign (see above
-- her practice of keeping her overly fluffy pomeranian ON the bar
-- perpetually swigging mixed drinks while bar tending
-- her old school hip-hop and deep house mix CDs
-- complementary jello shots circa college spring break in Cancun; and
-- last but not least her tenacity in owning a bar as a Korean dyke (ok I shouldn't assume but...) in the middle of Chinatown.
Kahn and I spent some time unwinding while trying to ignore some inane MTV show invading our senses on the widescreen. We couldn't help but notice the flashy screen stating, "I'm totally gay for..." followed by some presumably femme celebrity wannabe yakking away between cuts of Angelina Jolie. What exactly does this mean? Everyone wants to sleep with Angelina Jolie? I can understand that. MTV no longer plays music videos? I knew that--or as Vin's students would say, I been known that before.
Anyway, I tried an exercise in exploring who "I'm totally straight for..." Suffice to say, this exercise is really not all that amusing. I imagine it's somewhat titillating for purported straight-y-os to fantasize about who they'd flip for.
I'd much rather be exploring the revamped Escapevelocity --proof that Texas has wonderful things.
